As with most cities I visit, I always try to speak to at least one school. Los Angeles was no exception! I've been working with Playworks in various cities that my FIT Project takes me. L.A. would be extra special, as I would also get to be a part of Students Run LA. I spoke to the first grade class at an inner city school and surprisingly they were all great listeners! Afterward, I played recess with the second-sixth graders. All part of my mission to get kids active!

A bunch of excited 1st graders!

The 1st graders (and me:))

Okay, all the kids are here this time I think!

A few of the kids and me

On Sunday, during the marathon I ran with a bunch of students from SRLA. The most memorable conversation I had was with a 13-year-old boy. The rain and wind were beating down on us. I asked him what his secret was. He looked up at me with the rain streaming down his face and replied: "No secret ma'am, I just run." I nearly lost it. Out of the mouth of babes!

2,780 students started out on the VERY intense weather day and 97 percent crossed the finish line 26.2 miles later. I couldn't be more proud of them!
