June 17 (kick butt run)

Sarah Stanley

I went to bed last dreading my run this morning. Like, really, really dreading it. I had a kick butt run planned. 4 easy miles, then 4 miles at 7:40 pace, then 2 easy. Piece of cake? Yeah, I don't think so! So, dragged myself out of bed. Kind of stalled going to the trail. BUT. I told myself that if I ran well, then I would get to go to Bikram Yoga (yeah, that is a treat for me:)).

So, I geared up. Rain was in the forecast and was overcast, but decided to take my iPod anyway. I had a plastic baggie just in case the heavens decided to drench me.

So, started out running. Always takes me at least 3 if not 6 miles to warm up. However, somehow, I had some mojo come from somewhere (thank you to whoever sent it to me) and I felt pretty good the first "easy" 4 miles. Then came test time. No. 2 pencils sharpened. Shoes tied. Deep breath. A prayer. And let the legs fly!

Off I go. I did the next 4 miles at pace and even ran the next 2 faster then "easy pace". WHOA!!! What happened! Legs, you rock! You must have known that a treat was coming. So, I ran the 10 miles in 1:26. Sweet. I didn't die. The run kicked my butt, but I held on. WOOHOO!!

I ran fast enough to make it to Bikram Yoga. I love that hour & half. Yeah, you sweat something fierce, but my legs ALWAYS feel so great afterwards.

Sweat fest for today. DONE!
